Google Photos is a cloud based service for photo, video sharing and storage which was previously integrated to Google+.
Google Photos can be accessed through dedicated mobile apps (iOS and Android) or via a web browser. Not only it allows you to backup and organize photos from your different devices in a single place and also provide access to various useful features, such as image editing tools to create collages, movies and animation, filters to edit your photos and videos.
Google Photos is also where your Google+ photos are stored. By default photos and videos stored on Google Photos are not available in Google Drive and vice-versa.

Step 2. Click on the Cog icon located at the top right corner of your screen
Step 3. Select Settings > General
Step 4. Scroll to Create a Google Photos folder and tick the Automatically put your Google Photos into a folder in My Drive checkbox
Please note that modifications made to photos stored in this folder won’t reflect in Google Photos.
