How To Backup Photos to Google Photos

Google Photos is an online photo storage service open to any Google account holder. This guide explains how to use this free service to back up your photos and videos, and take advantage of the wide array of features offered through the platform.

What is Google Photos?

Google Photos is a free online service that allows Google account holders up to 15GB of free storage space. The platform provides a wide range of additional features in addition to storage, including the ability to edit photos using adjustment features and filters, to create slideshows, and to organize files into photo albums.

How to Back Up Photos from Your Computer to Google

To upload photos from your computer, follow these steps:

Step 1.  Click Photos and sign in with your Google Account

Step 2.  Click on Upload Photos button which is at the top of your screen and browse for the photos you’d like to upload

Another way you can upload photos on the computer is to:

Step 1.  Download and install the Google Photo Auto Backup App

Step 2.  Once installed, you will be prompted to choose your backup sources

Step 3.  Click Start Backup to begin backing up

How To Back Up Photos from a Mobile Device to Google

Step 1.  Firstly download the Google Photos App from either the AppStore for IOS users or for Android users through the Play Store.

Step 2.  Install the App using the default settings should automatically enable the Backup & Sync option needed to save files to Google Photos. This option can be accessed by going to Settings > Backup & Sync.
