Disable Firmware Updates for Brother Printers in the Status Monitor

If you are using Brother compatible printer cartridges and you want to keep using them, it’s probably in your interest that you disable Firmware updates for your Brother printer.

Here is a guide on how to do that:

  • Click the Brother Utilities  on your desktop to open the Brother Utilities

  • Click the dropdown list to select your model if it is not already selected

  • Select Tools > Status Monitor

  • Right-click on the Status Monitor window and select Other Settings > Software Update Setting

    NOTE:  If ‘Other Settings’ is not an option in the main pop-up menu, right-click on a blank space within the Status Monitor window and then select Check for Firmware Updates

  • To disable updates select one of the following options which can vary based on your version of Status Monitor

    Don’t want to receive any firmware information

  • Click OK
