Issue with Acronis True Image 2018 backup job failing, not finding backup location or stuck in endless queue

If you are having any of these issues with Acronis True Backup:

  1. Backup job failing
  2. Not finding backup location
  3. Stuck in endless queue

Then do try the following solutions:

How to Clone The Current Backup Job

  • Open Acronis True Image

  • Click the down arrow next to the backup job in question and click on Clone settings, here is an example below

  • You will see the cloned job will has a (1) in front of the backup job.  Delete the original backup job that you cloned by clicking the down arrow next to it and click on Delete…

  • With the pop up box options, make sure you click on Remove only, DO NOT CLICK ON Delete Entirely…  as this will delete all your backups!

  • To tidy up afterwards, I recommend you rename the cloned job by removing the (1) from the front of it which you can do by clicking on the down arrow next to the cloned job and clicking on Rename

  • Now select the cloned backup job and click on the Back up now button bottom right

Check The Backup Location

One of the most common issues I find is that the backup drive letter has changed which tends to stop the backup working.  To fix this, follow these steps.

  • Select the backup job that has failed and then move over the backup destination.  You will be prompted to Change Destination which you click on.

  • You will then be prompted to find the backup destination and then click OK
